Journey Inward Together

about

Though Point B is certainly one of electronica's chameleons, there aren't many of his tracks you could call breaks...until now. Journey Inward Together is a dark and heavy duty slab of electro-breaks that pairs proven tropes, such as 808-style subs, with more experimental melodic hooks.

In terms of tone, Journey Inward Together is a highly introspective piece that emulates what he calls the "prevailing atmosphere" of his early twenties when dark and intricate music was the soundtrack to life. At the same time it's a celebration of the "punk ethic" that characterised many of parties and gigs he went to in the early noughties, which is still alive in pockets but constantly being challenged by gentrification.

As with a lot of his music, his process includes the use of live instrumentation, albeit heavily processed. To create the erie tremolo riff that opens the track, he employed the Home Swinger, a homemade guitar-like string instrument, which he tuned to a scale similar to the Turkish makam system.

Don't expect any more material like this from Point B. It's a one off, so savour it and play it as loud as you dare.
